Quartz worktops, supplied & fitted

Engineered from around 90–93% natural quartz bound with resin, quartz is non-porous, never needs sealing and comes in hundreds of colours, from bright whites and marble-look veining to concrete greys and deep black.

Quartz is the worktop we fit more than any other, and for most family kitchens it's the easiest recommendation we make. Because it's engineered, the colour and pattern are consistent from slab to slab, so a long run or an L-shaped kitchen with joins looks seamless. And because the resin fills every pore, spills like red wine, coffee, turmeric and oil wipe straight off with warm soapy water.

It's also the most flexible surface for design. If you love the look of Calacatta marble but don't want the upkeep, a marble-effect quartz gives you the veining without the etching and staining. If you want something calm and modern, plain whites, greys and blacks keep the kitchen clean-lined.

Why choose quartz

  • Non-porous: no sealing, ever
  • Highly stain and scratch resistant
  • Consistent colour, so joins are discreet
  • Huge range, including marble-look designs
  • Ideal for busy family kitchens

Worth knowing

  • Not fully heatproof: hot pans can mark the resin
  • Not suitable outdoors (UV can discolour it)
  • Less one-off character than natural stone

What does a quartz worktop cost?

Most quartz worktops cost around £250–£600 per square metre supplied and fitted, which works out at roughly £1,400–£3,000 for a typical 5–6 m² kitchen. Plain colours sit at the lower end; heavily veined, premium designs at the top. Islands, extra cut-outs (undermount sink, hob, drainer grooves) and detailed edge profiles add to the figure.

Our quotes include templating, CNC fabrication in our Sheffield workshop, standard cut-outs, a polished edge, delivery and installation, all in one price. Our worktop cost guide compares quartz with every other surface.

20mm or 30mm quartz?

Both are strong enough for a normal kitchen when properly supported. 20mm looks slim and contemporary and is usually 10–20% cheaper; 30mm gives a more substantial edge that suits shaker and classic kitchens. You can also have a 20mm top with a mitred edge so it looks 40mm or deeper from the front. See 20mm vs 30mm worktops.

Living with quartz

Day to day, a damp cloth and a little washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid harsh chemicals such as oven cleaner, bleach or paint stripper, and always put hot pans and roasting tins on a trivet: quartz handles heat far better than laminate, but a pan straight off the hob can scorch the resin. Use a chopping board too, mainly to protect your knives.

Quartz also works beyond the kitchen worktop: matching upstands and splashbacks, window sills, utility rooms and bathroom vanity tops.

Questions

Quartz worktops: common questions

How much do quartz worktops cost?

Most quartz worktops cost around £250–£600 per m² supplied and fitted, or roughly £1,400–£3,000 for a typical 5–6 m² kitchen. Plain colours are at the lower end and premium veined designs at the top. Send us a photo and rough sizes on WhatsApp for a price.

Is quartz better than granite?

Neither is better for everyone. Quartz is non-porous, never needs sealing and has consistent colour; granite is 100% natural, every slab is unique, and it handles heat better. Our quartz vs granite guide compares them side by side.

Can you put hot pans on quartz?

We don't recommend it. Quartz is heat resistant, but a pan straight from the hob or oven can scorch or discolour the resin. Use a trivet or pan stand.

Do quartz worktops need sealing?

No. Quartz is non-porous, so it never needs sealing. Clean it with warm water and a mild washing-up liquid.

Do you fit quartz worktops as well as supply them?

Yes. We template, cut in our own Sheffield workshop and install with our own fitters across the UK. Fitting is included in the quote.
